Theme Relevance

All applications must focus on sustainability by addressing a meaningful problem related to environmental impact, climate action, resource efficiency, or social sustainability. Solutions should clearly articulate the problem being addressed and explain how the app contributes to a more sustainable outcome. Teams may approach sustainability from technical, data-driven, behavioural, or systemic perspectives.

Required Functionality

A functioning applications do not need to be production that is ready but must at least have core features which solve the problem during the in-person expo.

A functioning app is defined as a prototype, web app, or mobile app that clearly demonstrates how the proposed solution works and showcases aspects of the user experience/interfaces.

The in-person expo concludes the hackthon and is the mode of presentation to judges.

Presentation

Applications do not need to be published on a mobile app store or marketplace. If the app is not publicly available, teams must be able to demonstrate it live during the expo using a local build, hosted demo, or simulator. Judges will evaluate solutions based on the live demonstration and submitted app information.
